What Have You Done UCCian??

I've visited the Recom Building today, Sunday August 29.

...just a usual sight seeing in the school...

One room caught my attention though.

..this is located in the ground floor!

the dirt scattered everywhere.

A plastic of water

OMG!!

graffiti on the newly painted wall.

What's does this all imply?

We UCCians don't know how to take care of our FACILITIES.

It's not the Administration's fault. We just can't afford to pay a lot off MAINTENANCE staff...

Why don't we do it ourselves? Not that we have to clean.

We just have to be responsible in throwing our garbage & using the facilities.

Bago pa lang tong mga to pero mukha na agad luma! Tapos magrereklamo agad tayo pag pangit na!

haisst...

ang sakit niyo sa ulo!

sana mahuli kung sin man may gawa niyan!

How your FACEBOOK, TWITTER, FRIENDSTER affects Your EMPLOYMENT chances.

No college student of this generation is 'unaware' of the social networking sites FACEBOOK & TWITTER.

di ka estudyante kapag ganun.

wala na nga sa uso yung FRIENDSTER diba?

Of course this is normal. We (?.hehe), the young generation yearns for a group to belong, a group of people who will accept us, a group we can identify ourselves as a member.

We use it to get updates from our orgs, friends, long lost relatives, families & circle of friends..sometime we also use it to boast of what we have..like a new cellphone, a new boyfriend or girlfriend, a new experience & etc. In short these networking sites do a lot of wonders that we enjoy generously.

But do you know my dear UCCians.. especially to the graduating students that these networking sites we enjoy every minute might also be a cause of an UNEMPLOYMENT??

YES! That's highly possible!

There have been cases recently shared by experts that most employers now resort to researching in these networking sites about their prospective employees. Calling your CHARACTER REFERENCES is one and another is this.

So if you are for instance projecting a very serious image on your job application..but your Friendster, Facebook or Twitter accounts BELIE it then the employer might have a doubt. Thus reducing your chance of getting that dream job!

Think of it my friend. Don't just prepare your suit & tie for the interview, your winsome resume, your impressive credentials...also gear up your social networking account.

What You Can Do About This Possible Problem??

this is according to : TRABAHO Phils.

So, the next time you post an online profile on one of these
sites, remember to:

1. Set your profile viewing settings so that only friends
can view it. Or you might want to reset which information you want others
including friends to view.

2. If ever you wish to make it public, you should be
careful of what you type and what pictures you upload.

3, Avoid inviting friends who you don’t know.

4. Invite only people you know.

5. When you post, think long term.

6. With these in mind, you’ll be able to control your
profile in social networking sites and make sure to build up your character
through them.

7. This is because you won’t be able to control who sees your
profile unless you make necessary steps. This is definitely a good tip when
you’re job hunting.

SO beware!
if you have any trouble resetting your view setting try to google it or maybe if I find the need to..I might save it for another post.

How UCC Came to Be.

Hello my dear fellow UCCians!..How are you?

Anyway..I'd like to share this article copy Mr. JOP TOLENTINO (a former editor of THE CROSSROADS) generously gave me. It's from the Publication.

So..have a glimpse of HOW UCC CAME TO EXISTENCE.

THE UNIVERSITY OF CALOOCAN CITY: A HISTORY In a
Nutshell

Source: The Crossroads Publication Vol. IX No.3
January-March 2004

Year 1959, Col. Macario B. Asistio Sr. was
elected for the 3rd term as a Mayor of Caloocan, Rizal and started toying the
idea of a College. For all those years, Caloocan residents seeking higher
education had to go to distant schools in neighboring Manila at a prohibitive
cost to parents of students.

That being the situation, the idea of
providing educational opportunities to the Caloocan constituents of the town
executive was brought to fore with the assistance of the Cecilio Apostol
Elementary School Principal Mrs. Modesta G. Boquiren.

Hence, on
July 1, 1971, the CALOOCAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE opened its door to the first 42
students of the college as Education secretary Juan L. Manuel authorized its
first year operation. Articulating its purpose was "to provide quality
educational opportunities to deserving but indigent constituents and to insure
the maximum participation in the enjoyment of the benefits of such growth and
development" Municipal Ordinance No.495 appropriated P23,400.00 to start the
classes.

Two classes, one for the Bachelor of Science in Industrial
Education (BSIE) and another for the Bachelor of Science in Business Technology
occupied two rooms of the Caloocan High School PTA Building in the late
afternoon.

The first College Dean was Teresita Ochoco. She was
followed by Macaria Padrinao, Mrs. Pilar Pascual and Bernardo
Pascual.

On June 22, 1972, the second year of operation of the two
classes and one year Secretarial course were authorized on a P35,100.00 budget.

On June 7, 1973, the third year operation of the existing three
courses was granted, appropriating therefor P36.760.00 in Municipal Order 2020
and 2140.

On March 25, 1975, Municipal Ordinance No. 2295 provided
for the College Charter defining also the purpose of the renamed CALOOCAN CITY
POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE, as follows:

1. To fully develop the Filipino
intellect and explore its manpower potential.
2. To help promote a continuing
welfare and interest in improving the standard of living of the people of
Caloocan City with meaningful education geared towards the future demands of an
emerging industrial society.
3. To help enhance the prestige of the
underprivileged students by providing them with low tuition fee, the fundamental
instrument toward the improvement of their economic status.

A fire
that gutted the school building forced the College to go to the nearby
elementary school in the evening before transferring to the Puericulture Centre
Building in Sangandaan. Up to that time, classes were held only in the evening
when the rooms were vacated by the pupils.

The Sangandaan
Puericulture Centre was used before by the A. Bonifacio High School or M.B.
Assistio Sr. high School when it moved to its present Dagat-dagatan site.

Meanwhile, Pacencia Mendoza was designated College Administrator.
She was succeeded by Flora Besa-Cruz and again, from 1989 to 1995 NCR director
Modesta G. Boquiren was asked to serve as the College Administrator and
Educational Consultant.

On June 30, 1995, Dr. Orlando B. Molina was
appointed College Administrator by the new City Mayor Hon. Reynaldo O. Malonzo.
Upon his assumption, Dr. Molina envisioned the institution as the "centre of
excellence", the center that would yield to a new world-class human resource
development, to the economic, social, political, and moral transformation of the
city.

In 1996, the enrolment rose to 4,142 necessitating the
employment of 200 part-time instructor and 12 full-time mentors. Six courses
were added: Bachelor in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Accountancy,
Computer Secretarial ladderized to Office Administration. Later, Business
Administration phased out Business Technology, Math and English; 24 unit course,
Computer Science, Management Accounting, Masters course in Education and Public
Administration.

In the August 1996 first Licensure Examination for
Teachers (LET) a BEED graduate Irene Villanueva placed 4th Place and in the 3rd
LET in 1998, a 24 Unit Education student Cris Paner came in 10th. Succeeding
passers were in the Accountancy Board Michael Aguirre and Elisalde Frutas in
1998 and in 2003, respectively.

In one, a CCPC computer student
Wilfredo Requillo Jr. was Champion in first ALCU Skills Olympic in Information
Technology Programming Contest.

The continuing help and support of
the Mayor operationalized Buena Park Grounds for Physical Education, the Camarin
and Tanmdang Sora Campuses for Academic and Voc-tech classes thereby helping
solve mismatch between offerings and employment need.

Recently,
Students have enrolled for the new courses opened in June 2004: Nursing,
HRM-Tourism, Communication Arts, Criminology and BS Psychology. Some 200
students in vocational courses were enrolled in October 2003. More
vocational-technical and livelihood programs in the Voctech are helping solve
economic problems, giving the poor but deserving youth educational
opportunities, as planned.

Converting the College to the UNIVERSITY
OF CALOOCAN CITY has not been that impossible, for after 33 years of waiting, on
January 29, 2004 at the third and final reading of Municipal Ordinance No.
1020-2003, converting Caloocan City Polytechnic College to the UNIVERSITY OF
CALOOCAN CITY came to reality. This was met by students, parents, faculty
members and the academic community with great jubilation as they thronged the
Sangguniang panlungsod session hall shouting Mabuhay for their appreciation and
gratitude to Mayor Reynaldo O. Malonzo, Vice mayor Tito Varela, Atty. Dick
Gonzales, author and other authors of the Ordinance in the Sanggunian. (Ipr,

So there it it is guys..and gals...The History REvealed.

Thank you so much Mr. Jop Tolentino.

The Challenge for the New Graduates

after 4 years of struggle..pagsusunog ng kilay, endeavors, pagpupuyat...pagcomply sa projects...the day YOU have been waiting for has finally arrived.

CONGRATULATIONS Batch 2010-2011!!

...soon before the month of April ends..you will be marching the aisle...you will receive your DIPLOMA and bid your university goodbye. some might say "That's IT! I'm outta here!"...but some might also say "THIS is IT!" ..I hope you'll say the latter.

....anyway..enough of the drama!

I've been thinking of a solemn & memorable way to congratulate the batch 2011 graduating students but the world 'outside' which I'm aware of presents a threat. hinders me from BEING sincerely happy for you guys.

I'm sorry. I can't be sincerely happy for you when I foresee that the world our idealistic minds made up during our stay in the univ is gradually getting extinct...I'm not being pessimistic...I am just showing YOU the real picture of the 'jungle' my dear schoolmates. and it's not something we can just shrug off. (I don't have to be in the corporate world to know that. It's all over the TV)

We are taught since the first day we've realized our existence in the planet that a COLLEGE education is the key to SUCCESS. of course I do believe that. But is not the SOLE KEY. It should be accompanied with other 'keys'.

for that I want you to meet my 'barakada' -- it's called The VIRTUES

meet;

Patience --you will need HIM when everything seems to go out of your plan.

Perseverance -- he will be there when you think you have been fooled! you'll need him in times of hopelessness..you just have to hold onto him..keep him in your vocabulary..heed his advice. He may be annoying & nagging you sometimes but it will surely be for your own good.

Passion -- he's just there when you were thinking of your future plans. all there to give you JUST the MORAL support..but the truth is HE keeps hiding when you're out already. In our world today..he can be a good help but NOT necessary & essential...heed him & you'll find yourself just planning & dreaming..and afterwards..planning & dreaming.... He'll suggest you to do what you like & love but again in this world..of great competition..you have to do what you NEED to do. Be realistic. Ignore him 'sometimes'.

Realism -- at first you may think he's a BULLY. but he is the most honest of the 'barkada'. When you want to hear the truth.no matter how much it will hurt you he will SAY it to you outright! So prepare yourself everytime you meet him.

.............................................................

..BALITA!!

according to the news... it will be harder for new grdauates to apply this coming summer even in CALL CENTERs. The famous job recruitment online nerwork stated that before 50,000 applicants were hired each month..now it decreased to 10,000. This is due to BPO companies ' new & stricter policies in job selection! It is advised for some especially to newly graduates to take OJT's and use their waiting time to develop their skills in different aspects.

here's the video clip

Video credit: TheABSCBNNews

it is said here that investors and companies are not actively hiring employees as of now due to the election. They have to weigh the factors first. The new administration might have some new program so they have to adjust to that. So they will be actively hiring new employees around June.

"Gamitin ang panahon ng paghihintay sa pagpapalawig ng kakayanan imbes na tumambay sa bahay"

CALOOCAN CITY COMPLETE LIST of 2010 CANDIDATES

the truth is... I can't sleep enough thinking of the coming elections. not because there will be a rainshower of crispy 100 and 500 peso bills but because of the thought that I can at least be part of my country's struggle... I will not just be an "audience". I will actually take part!! yehey!!

this will be my first time. I wanna feel & experience it first hand.....
just like the indelible ink applied to our fingers after we have voted...I am hoping to also leave an indelible mark by excercising my right to vote. I hope majority of the youth of UCC is with me in this endeavor. let's not just sit back & see our nation sink into the mud. let's not inculcate in our minds & to our future children's that leaving the country is the only resort. we can still make this nation a better place to live. let's us believe.

speak out. be heard. affect.

"tama..!ang korny.baduy.di uso sa UCC yan" pero ngayon di ka lang magdedesisyon para sa UCC. This is for our generation and to the next generation we will produce.

The New UCC Building -- to be fully functional in SY 2010-2011

It's been confirmed!! ---- the new UCC building in Camarin will be fully functional next school year. (SY 2010-2011) I am so excited!! -- unfortunately the seniors now won't be able to use it..too bad for them..pero okay lang at least nakita nila?? (pede n bang consolation yun?)

hehhe anyways..according to my source, Prof. Joan Tulod all the 16 rooms will be divided into two so all in all we will have 32 new classrooms next year!! and...magkakaroon na daw po ng HRM na course. gusto daw yun ni Mayor Recom. 5 rooms will be alotted to them as their laboratory.. so pwede ng ipamalita!!

when I was walking in the street behind the NOW UCC I couldn't help myself but smile & be proud..it was truly a good structure..sending me a message that soon I can justify proudly that my school is indeed a great one!!! not just basing on the graduates it produces but also on it's structure.

yung likod ngayon ay gagawing harap..there we'll see the front view of the school beaming proudly it's name. there's the arch which is a typical structure in almost all universities.

pero habang naglalkad ako nun nagsisi ako..wala akog camerang dala! too bad..but surely next time will never be the same.

As some may not know.... UCC has retention policy -- which means that if you are in your 1st-2nd year you have to maintain your gpa (grade point average) so that you'll be enrolled the next semester. The gpa varies in different colleges and departments.
BS Psychology - 2.25

Education - 2.0

AB Pol Sci - 2.25

i dunno about the rest but most are 2.25. just inquire in your respective departments for further information.

Mayor announces P38-M new building construction for University of Caloocan City

By
Jul 21, 2009 - 4:50:24 AM

MANILA, July 22 (PNA) -- Caloocan Mayor Enrico Recom Echiverri announced Tuesday that the local government has already began the construction of a P38 million new building for the University of Caloocan City (UCC) campus in Camarin.

The four-storey, 16 classroom, is expected to be commissioned in July 2010.

Echiverri said that the city government decided to expand the UCC Camarin facility due to its increasing enrollment.

Currently, due to space limitations in UCC's main campus located along Gen. San Miguel street, Sangandaan, a number of its colleges were assigned to different campuses in Tandang Sora along 7th Avenue; Buena Park in University Hills Subdivision; and Camarin.

The UCC is the city sole tertiary education institution for marginalized students.

However, under the Echiverri administration flagship building Schools for the Futurescheme, major construction projects for the university will go hand-in-hand with renovation and upgrading of its existing buildings and facilities.

This scheme is alongside other initiatives such as the school improvement plan to address UCC's ever increasing school population, he noted.

Either new buildings will be added or undergo major refurbishments under the scheme because it is very important for the city and its residents that we invest in education, Echiverri added.

UCC registrar Marilyn De Jesus said that the school has a total student population of a little over 10,500 undergraduate and postgraduate enrollees.

De Jesus said their main campus in Caloocan South has 4,985 enrollees while their Camarin Campus in Caloocan North has a population of 5,698 students. (PNA)

"the building is almost done. beaming with the administration's flagship color royal blue & yellow. It is really a great help for us UCCians but I think not the color. when we were having classes in NR rooms especially when it's sunny day it's really an eyesore seeing the building splendent with royal blue & yellow. Iam not complaining. I am just simply saying that maybe we can tone down the color so that our eyes wouldn't hurt that much. I can't even stare at the building longer than 3 minutes." I hope to post pictures later.

( as promised..i updated this and the pictures are there.)

it is not yet functional as of the moment and I don't know when they plan to use it. there are still remaining things to fix. I've heard there (is) (will) be a basement parking here.
